In attending the CAAA 2016 Winter Conference this past January, I was anticipating something over and above the material provided at past conferences. After all, this was the 50th anniversary. Were they going to provide some detailed insight on big plans to combat the carriers? Were they going unveil plans for new legislation for Governor Brown to push through Sacramento? Were they going to provide four days of continued education that would enable me to earn my required MCLE's, along with my legal specialization credits? Well, one out of three isn't bad if you are batting cleanup.
Not to say there was not some valuable information obtained during the Winter Conference. Unfortunately, absent from the festivities was that home run hit which makes the applicant attorneys stand up and cheer with the chant of "Now go out and get them!" Had that occurred, I would've advised you of same.
